The picture to the left shows Edgar Gate, from Edgar Street; beyond the gate is Worcester Cathedral and College Green, where Tomkins lived and worked throughout nearly all of his adult life. Every journey that he made between Worcester and London, combining his duties at the Cathedral with those at the Chapel Royal, would doubtless have begun with Tomkins passing under this tower.
