Erik Dippenaar was born in South Africa. At the end of 2003 he obtained the degree B.Mus. (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch. In July 2007 he was awarded an M.Mus. in Advanced Performance (with distinction) by the Royal College of Music, London. Erik is currently doing an Artist Diploma in harpsichord and fortepiano at the RCM under Jane Chapman (harpsichord) and Geoffrey Govier (fortepiano). He is financially supported by the Richard Carne and Ruth Dyson Awards. Erik has appeared as organ soloist with some of the major South African orchestras and has won several important South African music competitions. As harpsichordist Erik has appeard in various important early music fesivals such as the Greenwich Early Music Festival, the London Handel Festival and the Brighton Early Music Festival. As harpsichord soloist he has appeared with various ensembles, including the RCM Baroque Orchestra and the Cape Town based baroque ensemble, Camerata Tinta Barocca. Since November 2006 Erik has been a permanent member of the period ensemble Melopoetica, with which he has toured to Sweden, Austria and South Africa. In June 2006 Erik was the winner of the RCM Early Music Competition, and in May 2007 he was given Honourable Mention at the eight Broadwood Harpsichord Competition. During the seventh London Handel Singing Competition in March 2008, he was awarded the Accompanist’s Prize. Erik is a member of the group Musici Infatagabili, who won the Broadwood Early Keyboard Ensemble Competition held at Fenton House during May 2008. Future engagements include a solo recital for the British Hapsichord Society and harpsichord concertos with Camerata Tinta Barocco in Cape Town. |

Handel House is at 25 Brook Street, Mayfair, just off Bond Street, between Grosvenor Square and Hanover Square. Tube to Bond Street and walk down South Molton Street; or tube to Oxford Circus and walk a short way down Regent Street, turn into Hanover Street, and then on to Brook Street. The Museum faces onto Brook Street, but the entrance is a the back, in Lancashire Court.
